help SIC co-produce a European Declaration for Social Innovation
Between January and March 2018, Social Innovation Community is running a public consultation to identify the key policy challenges that are preventing Europe’s diverse social innovation community from achieving its potential for social impact – and we want to hear from you!
Our aim is to use this independent consultation to help (co)produce a European Declaration for Social Innovation that represents the policy needs and interests of the social innovators, social entrepreneurs, activists, civil society actors, cooperatives, researchers and others who make up this diverse community.
The final Declaration will be presented to the European Commission for consideration later this Spring.
Why are we doing this?
There’s a growing recognition that in order to effectively meet some of the greatest challenges we face, Europe needs a thriving and resilient social innovation movement. The European Commission has gone far in its support to help grow this community – by funding projects that help social innovators scale their solutions, and supporting research to improve our understanding and evidence of social innovation. In the last decade social innovation has gained support and traction amongst European Institutions (and has been added into big EU funding programmes like Horizon 2020).
SIC acknowledges the good progress that has been made, but we want your help to understand how the European Commission to go further in its support for social innovation. You can read here about why now the time is ripe for Europe’s social innovation community to come together and have its policy needs heard.
How and why should you contribute?
Over the coming weeks, the Social Innovation Community project will be running a series of online activities and discussions to capture the rich diversity of perspectives and policy needs across Europe’s SI community, and to work with the community to shape a new Declaration that sets out a clear policy agenda for supporting social innovation. But first we want to hear from you!
Our short survey takes no more than 5 minutes to fill out. Complete it before March 25th to let us know what barriers are holding you, your organisation and/or your community back from achieving your fullest potential for social impact! By responding to this survey you will be helping to:
- Ensure the key barriers holding the community back are captured and communicated to EU policymakers.
- Identify where and how European policies, programmes and funds can better meet the needs of SI actors.
- Contribute to a new policy agenda for social innovation in Europe.
